Olivier Beekman

Music is one of my greatest hobbies. After a long time, I decided to go for it: to buy a jazz bass and learn to play. How cool would it be to play the grooves and riffs of my favorite songs! I started with an app but missed the personal coaching and guidance that I needed as a beginner. So, I decided to take lessons.

I haven't regretted it for a second. I have been joyfully taking bass lessons from Olivier for over a year now. Enthusiastically, I came with a huge list of songs, more than half of which were far above my level. Looking back, we have gone through many songs from the list and others, and I have played and learned a lot.

What appeals to me is his broad musical knowledge and interest, knowledge of the instrument and theory, and motivating personal approach. The atmosphere is positive, and Olivier is a pleasant teacher who invites you to do, learn, and tackle your challenges, big or small. With humor and patience, he teaches me what is necessary to play with pleasure.

Now, a year later, I love the bass even more. Because I love the music where that specific sound of a precision bass is featured, I purchased one as he advised. Keep it up, I'll keep practicing on my 2 bass guitars, and I hope to learn a lot more from you 😊Brigitte

After taking several trial lessons with different music teachers, I chose to take bass guitar lessons with Olivier. I haven't regretted that decision to this day. What I appreciate is that it doesn't have to be overly formal, and you immediately start working on your goals. It feels like the lessons are tailor-made, which is very pleasant and efficient.

The atmosphere during the lesson is always relaxed, and time flies by because Olivier, besides being a good teacher, is just a cool guy!

I was looking for a teacher who could teach me to play the bass guitar. I had started online myself and wanted to progress further. Video tutorials are useful for the basics, but the nuances are learned during real lessons with personal attention to your playing.

Two things are important to me: the connection with the teacher and lessons at my level. The connection was immediate, and Olivier guides more adults like me. It's not a classical music school with a fixed program. Just accessible and tailor-made, you can go in any direction. Your level of experience doesn't matter.

The first lessons were exciting and confronting, but that made it very educational. Olivier sees and hears what you can improve and gives good tips. You discover what can be better and how to achieve it. You set the pace yourself, and every lesson I learn something new.

Olivier gives me enjoyable songs that I thought I couldn't play, but they turn out to be the right ones to progress. Thanks to the lessons, I keep the desire to play. After the lesson, I go home recharged with a lot of inspiration for the rest of the week.

It's the best investment in yourself; you get discipline and audible progress in return. I have become a better player, and that's priceless.

With minimal experience in music, I started guitar lessons with Olivier. Three years later, I was accepted into the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht.

Olivier taught me a lot and helped me with various aspects such as music theory, song analysis, scales, triads, seventh chords, improvisation, etc.

He also assisted me in learning advanced techniques and songs, including things like sweep/hybrid picking, legato, tapping, etc. He tailored the lessons to what I wanted to learn.

What I also appreciated was that if I ever had a question about the bass guitar, piano, composing my own songs, or when buying new gear, I could always turn to him.

In short, Olivier is a friendly, helpful, and professional teacher with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I always went to lessons with great pleasure. Highly recommended!
